After a couple of days I decided I wasn't just imaginging things and that this La Z Boy sofa was just about the most unconformtable couch I'd ever sat on'. So I called the store on Saturday and spoke with the saleswoman I'd worked with during the initial sale:. I related my concerns and said I'd like an exchange'. She replied that she didn't have the power to make that decision and that I could expect a call from someone with that authority the following Monday?.
As you might have guessed, Monday rolled around and most of the day went by without a call from La Z Boy/. I left a message for the saleswoman, who called me a couple of hours later and could only tell me that I could still expect a call from someone:. It's only Wednesday now, but I've got a hunch I won't be hearing from La Z Boy any time soon:. Stay tuned... 13a6826

Within months, the furniture is literally falling apart (the framework). The recliner mechanism sounds like it is coming apart and no amount of oiling it helps. The local store is no help whatsoever. The company will not help and says talk to the local store. Would never buy Lazyboy again. Completely unacceptable quality. |
2. Written by David on February 18, 2012 from iowa falls, iowa, US I purchased a La-Z-Boy sofa on January 2nd, 2012. The following day I broke out in hives and have had them every day since I brought the sofa into my townhome. It's now February 18th. I am now taking prescription prednisone and antihistimatines to counteract the poison in this product. Do not buy La-Z-Boy as they are toxic.
3. Written by PM on January 16, 2012 from greenwich, connecticut, US That toxic smell! What is it? I thank all of those who have written about this, because it's reassuring to know that others have noticed this. After 30 years (literally) of cajoling, my wife finally let me buy "my" comfortable recliners (yeah, I bought a pair), and I can't sit in them: as others have noted, the smell (toxic chemicals? mold/mildew?) is unbearable, and I feel headaches and chest heaviness (as others have said). As I note, I have NEVER had any sort of 'allergic' reactions (I'm a physician, so I have to put 'allergic' in quotes), so I'm not one of those sensitive types. Ironically, my wife doesn't notice this -- about half the friends who've been at our house don't notice it, the others can't sit in the chair more than 30 seconds. I'm now battling with LaZBoy to return these -- they've been resisting, but I'm fighting the good fight. This is TOTALLY unacceptable.
4. Written by terrible odor too! on December 30, 2011 from norwalk, connecticut, US I too just received a la z boy rocker/recliner and I can't live with the odor. I have been struggling with headaches and a "heavy" chest feeling. I thought I would check on line to see if others have this problem. I'm shocked to see how it appears to be a serious company problem. When I callled they told me it goes away in a week or two and that I should air out my home (hard to do in 30 degree weather). Has anyone found that the odor does go away or do I need to return this?
5. Written by jb on December 3, 2011 from halifax, nova scotia, CA Be careful what you order.... We ordered a sectional sofa on June 5, 2011. The fabric was very basic and we were told Lazy Boy has tons of that fabric because they buy the whole production from a company and there should be no problem getting the set in the usual time frame .. 6 -8 weeks. As a special we could choose two toss cushions. We chose the fabrics for the cushions. We did not get the furniture until Sept 28. We had NO FURNITURE for that many weeks. You figure out the weeks! The reason.. the 'fabric' for the toss cushions were backordered and even though we wanted to cancel the 'complimentary' toss cushions that were the root of the problem, it was not allowed. The whole order was kept on hold until those silly 18" cushions arrived. I am not blaming the Lazy Boy store in Halifax, but I sure am unhappy with anything that has to do with Lazy Boy and ordering. They are rigid and difficult to work with . Lazy by name and lazy by service. Be careful of the wolf in sheep's clothing. We have no reason to go to Lazy Boy again.

7. Written by Antonia on October 3, 2011 from new york, new york, US My new La-Z-Boy recliner has a really toxic smell to it and is making me sick. I've kept the windows open for the last three days and have an air purifier next to the sofa and the toxic smell still hasn't gone away. I called La-Z-Boy and they claimed that no one else has ever complained of this type of smell before. They promised to send someone over to "clean" the recliner. We'll see. But I also agree with others that the chair received doesn't seem as comfortable as the one in the show-room, although I can't see why that would be the case.

10. Written by Ms. Symore on March 25, 2011 from orlando, florida, US Hi, I bought my La-Z-Boy at the store in Maitland, Fl and my salesman was Sam Owens. He was so great. He made me feel like a special customer even though it took me hours to purchase. La-Z-boy made such a great decision hiring Sam. I love my furniture so much and Sam has a customer for life. I just want to say if you go to lazyboy please go see Sam in Maitland.
