So to solve this problem. I called the Tukwila store where I purchased it, then they said call customer service, so I did that and they contacted the Lynnwood store who said that Tukwila would deal with it but they didn\'t call me back.

So, instead of waiting I went into the store. Excellent Eddie helped me, he said it was probably the protectant so he reordered the chair and they will pick up the \'stinky\' chair, which I have now put in my shed because my eyes were so puffy.

I did appreciate that he even credited me the protectant cost. So we\'ll see what happens with round 2

I custom ordered the lazboy maverick rocker-recliner chair. it felt the most comfortable so I customed ordered so it would match my living room.

It took the full 8 weeks they said it would and then tried to deliver it to the wrong address, at 7am on a Saturday.

It had a smell when I got it and I thought it would go away and it hasn't, now my eyes and throat are sore and I've been sneezing and even effected breathing. I don't know what to do because they have a no return policy on custom orders, and I don't know if it's even possible to get rid of the toxic stentch.

Monetary Loss: $1000.

Location: Renton, Washington

After months of looking, we decided to buy a La-Z-Boy sleeper sofa. We loved everything about it โ€“ the design, the looks, the comfort - except โ€ฆ the odor.

It was chemical, seemed toxic, and affected our breathing. It wasnโ€™t formaldehyde (usually in wood) but seemed like something in the foam. We just couldnโ€™t sit on the thing for any length of time without suffering. My wife even got headaches from it.The retailer was great and offered to take it back into her warehouse and put it outside on sunny days to air out.

This went on for 6 months, and then we took it back. The unpleasant smell had not diminished at all. Even two workmen who came into our condo for other reasons noticed it immediately. I canโ€™t express how huge a disappointment this was for us.We have purchased a lot of other new furniture in our lives and none of it smelled like this.

The furniture in the new condo we rented in Mexico had no smell. Neither did the $270 couch we examined at Walmartโ€™s.If these other companies making far less expensive furniture than La-Z-Boy can make odorless products, why canโ€™t they? The retailer was wonderful to the end, took the sofa back, and returned our $1550 payment in full. We have already recommended her to others. But La-Z-Boy?

Weโ€™ll never recommend them. A shame. If they could only make furniture that didnโ€™t smell toxic, they would have as great a product as could be found anywhere.

But their product does smell. Terribly.

I bought a really comfortable rocker/recliner chair from Lazy-Boy back in 2013. At first I thought the odor was just from it being a new chair, but the blanket I had laying on it had also absorbed the smell.

Luckily I never used the chair very often and didn't really want to because of the smell. Unfortunately I never took it back because I kept thinking the smell would go away. Well, it's been 3 YEARS and the smell is still there! We are not sure what to do with it, we can't use it and we can't sell it, so throwing it in the dump seems to be the only option.

I should really 'dump' it on Lazy-Boys doorstep! That's $900 wasted!

I will never buy from them again. Just curious, does anyone know for sure what is causing the smell?

the only way to get rid of the smell is to burn the chair

I was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis because of working at Lazboy warehouse ... be careful about these symptoms, because Lazboy didn't make me aware of the chemicals that were used there, I thought my symptoms were allergy related not that they were killing my lungs .. no cure for this illness ..

can I please get more info on the chemicals in these chairs as have recently bought one & it reeks of a chemical & I have gotten swollen eyes that are staying swollen, & the foul smell of what ever chemical is permeating from this chair. Every time I lean back on this chair air is expelled and a foul odor of a chemical along with it.

Help! I need info.

Dear Lori, I am so sorry I am just seeing this note. I hope you got your problem solved.

I want to let you know if ever you become ill from toxic smells, it is best to ask your doctor to run a tox screen blood test.

Wish I had known about the issues of exposure then. Best wishes, Holly

Sounds like you are getting your chair replaced! That's good customer service especially when it is a custom order fabric.

Holly, I'm sorry about your illness from work. I sure hope that Lazyboy looks after your medical costs.

Yesterday,my husband bought a couple lawn chaise chairs with Lazyboy name that are offgassing something fierce. They are giving me a headache. Fortunately, they are in our three season room with the door to outside open.

I've only been out there twice for seconds. Wondering what chemical could cause a headache this quickly.
